Fang Without a Master Crimson Desert Quest Walkthrough
9 September 2026 | 17
The quest titled Fang Without a Master in Crimson Desert offers players a memorable opportunity to earn a loyal companion while exploring the region of Hernand. Continuing the story right after the completion of A Chunk of Meat, this faction quest challenges players to build rapport with a stray brown dog left behind in the aftermath of local conflict. Understanding how to efficiently manage your daily interactions with this animal ensures a swift transition from stray encounter to a fully registered pet companion.
Starting the Quest and Locating the Stray
To begin this quest line, head south of the Tannery in the Hernand area where Naira introduces you to the stranded stray. Since Naira cannot care for the animal, she suggests that you step in to give the lost hound a proper purpose. Finding the dog in its designated spot unlocks the trust building mechanic required to advance the story.
Building full trust requires reaching 100 points on the animal's trust meter before it accepts you. Because daily caps limit how much trust you can earn in a single in-game day, careful planning helps speed up the entire process.
Maximizing Daily Trust Gains
Players can build trust by either petting the stray or feeding it raw meat gathered from nearby wildlife. Direct petting grants five trust points per action up to a maximum daily cap of 25 points. Dropping pieces of lean meat near the dog rewards significantly higher trust, granting up to 35 points up to a food limit.
Combining both methods on your first day allows you to quickly maximize your daily progress toward the overall goal. Once you hit the daily interaction limit, locate a nearby bed to sleep for up to 12 hours or wait until midnight to reset the trust cap.
Registering Your New Companion
Upon reaching 100 total trust, interact with the brown dog one final time to complete the adoption process. Registering the animal unlocks the Pets tab within your character inventory screen. This allows you to summon or unsummon your newly adopted companion whenever you navigate the open world.
Beyond providing moral support, your new pet serves a practical role in battle by automatically picking up enemy drops and loot scattered nearby. Completing this favor successfully wraps up the Greymane side storyline and opens up subsequent adventures across Pywel.
